Roof Cost Calculator
Explore a Dallas–Fort Worth replacement budget. Choose measured roof area or footprint, then see what changes the result.
A useful budget starts with the right roof area
A house advertised as 2,000 square feet does not necessarily have a 2,000-square-foot roof. A second floor adds living space without doubling the footprint; an attached garage adds roof even when it is not counted as living space.
Use measured roof surface if you have it. If you know the horizontal roof footprint instead, the calculator accounts for one average pitch. The illustration compares that flat footprint with the sloped surface it supports. You do not need to climb onto the roof to use the example.
Explore an architectural-asphalt replacement budget using Dallas–Fort Worth rates. An inspection then connects the budget to your roof’s measurements and repair needs.

Try a Hurst roof replacement budget
The starting example is 2,000 square feet of measured roof surface. Change the size or area basis to explore a different scenario.
Keep the 2,000 sq. ft. example, or enter an area you already know. Roof footprint means the area covered, not total living space.
Keep the 6:12 example unless you already know the pitch. Pitch helps check material suitability.

How this planning range works
Q1 2026 Dallas–Fort Worth range: $5–$8 per square foot of roof surface for installed architectural asphalt, including materials, labor, tear-off, disposal and permits.
The example starts at 2,000 square feet of roof surface. Footprint mode uses one average pitch; garages, porches and multiple stories affect the relationship to living area. Waste, complex roof shapes, steep-roof labor and deck repairs are assessed separately.
Use the right area for the calculation
Pitch changes roof area in this calculator. Steep-roof labor is assessed separately.
What takes the project outside this range
The tool cannot see the deck, count layers or plan access. Those details are part of a roof replacement assessment.
- Wood or hidden layers need work
Removal can expose damaged decking or extra covering that must come off. The quantity and work method affect the price.
- Access or geometry adds labor
Height, steep slopes, valleys, equipment and restricted staging can increase labor or material needs beyond this area-based illustration.
- Material or payment assumptions change
This example uses architectural shingles. A metal or specialty roof needs a different budget. Insurance coverage and a deductible do not come out of this result automatically.
Roof cost calculator FAQs
Is this an estimate for my Hurst home?
No. This is a planning budget. A project estimate accounts for the measured roof, materials, deck condition and access.
Why does pitch change one result but not the other?
With a footprint, a steeper pitch means more sloped surface above the same horizontal area. With measured roof surface, that slope is already included. Pitch can still affect labor, which this geometry calculation does not separately price.
What does the planning range include?
It includes architectural shingles, materials, labor, tear-off, disposal and permits. Deck repairs and other changes to the work are assessed separately.
Can I use this for a nearly flat roof?
The asphalt-shingle calculation stops below a 2:12 pitch because that slope needs a different system. For membrane roofing and other low-slope options, see commercial roofing or describe the roof when you contact us.
